First Soccer Game

This was a very exciting day for me and Nyla.  Parker had his first organized sports game.  He's been to a couple of soccer practices and has really enjoyed them.

Before the game Gary gave good advice, "don't have any expectations".  Good advice.  It was fun to watch.

Here are a few of my observations:

1. Parker was a joy to watch because he's so excited about everything.
2. He was a little unsure of the piles of kids huddled around the ball kicking each other so he decided to circle the crowd and when the ball squirted out he ran for it.
3. He debated with the coach just a bit about his playing time.  The coach won.
4. He scored once but could have scored twice had he used his left foot.  We'll have to work on that.
5. When the other team scored a goal Parker's immediate reaction was, "well, that's only their first one".  We'll also have to work on sportsmanship.  This is an obvious Stott trait. :)
6. No kids cried, but there were many cartwheels, little dances, and jumping up and down during the action.  One kid went and laid down in the opposing goal for a bit.

Jackson had a good time too.

 

Parker's Post

Parker wanted to blog a little about the fireworks at Driggs.....

Um....I love the fireworks. and I um....like to look at em go up in the air.  and, um, I like to um do the fireworks a lot. and um I would like to see granna and papa and take em with us to see the fireworks. um...I like to do the fireworks and see the movie Wall-E.  and um, I really like to go to the movie theatres a lot. that's all there is papi.  Maybe I like when Jackson plays with me.

Jackson wanted to write a post....

"I wanted to look at the monster truck...I did.  Orange, green, black, white, pink, and more black and white and red, it doesn't have pink.  It's a big one.  I liked the wheels and I liked the fire on it and I liked all of the colors on it and I liked the wheels and nothing else. I really like the monster truck 'cause it has big wheels."

My favorite kid thing to do

Nyla just posted about this, but I want to say a little something because making bows and arrows was one of my favorite things to do growing up.  Most memories are from my Grandma Smith's house in Driggs, ID.  She had a big willow tree in the backyard which we would use for making our weapons.  Then we'd spend the day shooting at stuff, including magpies and cats.  Of course we never hit anything.

So, yesterday our neighbor cut down his willow tree....sad day....and I took advantage of the sticks.

Flying Kung Fu Pandas

I couldn't resist posting these pictures.  I just laugh to myself everytime I see them.  This happened just the other day after I got home from work.  I was chatting with the boys about their day and I believe we started talking about Kung Fu Panda.  Anyway, here is the result.  Notice the personalities coming out in the boys.  Mr Conservative, Jackson, in constant contact with something.  And Parker, enough said....

Ok, I realize my last post was confusing.  Here is a closer picture of Parker and his shaved head.  Looks good, right?...

Parker's Hair - I Love it

So, I love how Parker looks with his new haircut. (and so does his preschool teacher).  Nyla does not.  We had a minor miscommunication over the weekend and Parker ended up with a shaved head.

No Wiener Here!

We just got back from the ultrasound and we are having a girl!  Nyla and I are both very excited and will be deciding on names soon.  I guess there's not much else to say about this subject. Yay for girls.

Recent Blog Project

Since I started working for an SEO company I've spent a lot of time studying how Search Engine Optimization works.  In my research I've accepted that the easiest way to learn will be by doing.  So, I recently started a new blog project with my dad about bear hunting. 

We started one week ago and with the help of some friends at work, Shep in particular, we have started getting search traffic through Google on terms like hunting bear in the rain and petersburg ak bear hunting.  hah!  I know those aren't significant traffic keywords, but after one week I'm quite proud of the results and I'm positive if we keep working on it we'll get where we want to be.

If nothing else, it gives me an excuse to talk about our self guided bear hunt coming this September during which I'm sure we'll do our sharing of fishing.  In the meantime I can continue learning more about SEO.

What in the World?

So, I had Nyla bring the kids into work yesterday and when they got there Parker came in and in passing said, "Mommy says we're going to have a baby sister."  I questioned him a few times to make sure I understood correctly.

It turns out that Nyla had an ultrasound on Friday and the nurse told her we were having a girl and that she was quite sure about it.  Funny, because that is what the first lady told us when we found out we were having a boy.

I'm not going to get overly excited about anything yet....I'm not convinced.  Nyla is having a tough time sleeping though....she would really like a girl.

Anyway, looks like we'll be having a girl....or not.
